Visiting a new church for the first time can be unsettling.

It is our hope that your first visits to Lakewood are pleasant and that you feel that you’ve “come home.” If you know you are coming to visit and have some specific questions, please call the church office at 904-733-8477 and we will be happy to answer any questions.

What is worship like?
Lakewood is proud to offer a blended service each Sunday that offers both traditional and more contemporary elements.

Some Sundays are more traditional and others are more contemporary. We encourage you to visit more than once so that you are able to get the full experience. Lakewood also has many musical groups with different styles that bring us wonderful, inspiring music each week. Every first Sunday of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion, which is open to everyone.

What about my children and youth?
Lakewood offers a full range of age-appropriate programs for children through 12th grade.

If you are visiting for Sunday School, our children through 6th grade meet upstairs in the education building at 9:45am, following breakfast. Our youth 7th through 12th grade meet for Sunday School in the youth room, upstairs in the Christian Activity Center.

During most worship services, our children are invited to the stage for a children's message, and any children 2nd grade and younger are invited to join Children's Church with Mrs. Bethany in the chapel. Bethany Coleman, our Director of Family Ministries, will be happy to make sure your child gets where he or she needs to go. You may contact her at bcoleman@lcjax.org or call 904.733.8477.

Where should I park?
There's lots of options for parking!

There is street parking along San Jose Blvd in front of the Christian Activity Center and Sanctuary. We also have parking along the side of the CAC in between here and San Jose Church of Christ. If you follow the road between Lakewood and San Jose Church of Christ, you will find additional parking in the back. We are also permitted to park in the Winn Dixie shopping center parking lot on Sundays. 

What should I wear?
We encourage you to dress comfortably.

You will see some folks dressed in their Sunday best, some in business casual and others in blue jeans. Just come comfortable.
